Counselling for Adults
I am a professionally qualified and registered member of the BACP - British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
A supportive space to explore what’s beneath the surface
Life can feel overwhelming at times. You might find yourself stuck in repeating patterns, struggling in relationships, feeling anxious or disconnected, or carrying experiences that still shape how you feel today.
Counselling offers a calm, confidential space to slow things down, make sense of what’s happening for you, and begin to move towards meaningful change.

At Creatively Dreaming Therapy in Horsham, West Sussex, I offer one-to-one counselling for adults who are navigating emotional, relational, or life-stage difficulties.
While I have a specialist interest in fertility counselling and reproductive wellbeing, you do not need to be experiencing fertility-related challenges to work with me.
Many of the adults I support come for counselling around anxiety, trauma, perfectionism, relationship difficulties, or a sense of being “stuck”, often without a clear label for what they’re feeling.
Counselling is not about being “fixed”. It is about being met with understanding, curiosity and care.
How counselling can help
Adult counselling can support you to:
- Understand recurring emotional or relational patterns
- Explore anxiety, overwhelm, or constant self-criticism
- Process difficult or traumatic experiences
- Make sense of relationship difficulties (past or present)
- Reconnect with your sense of self, identity, and needs
- Develop more compassion for yourself and your story
You don’t need to be in crisis to begin counselling. Many people seek therapy because something doesn’t feel right — even if they can’t quite put it into words yet.
My areas of focus
Fertility counselling and reproductive wellbeing
I specialise in counselling for adults affected by fertility difficulties, pregnancy loss, PCOS, early menopause, and the emotional impact of hormonal or reproductive changes. Fertility challenges can touch every part of life; identity, relationships, self-worth, and the future you imagined. Therapy offers a space where these often-unspoken feelings can be held safely and without judgement.
Relationships and fertility
Fertility struggles can place significant strain on relationships, even strong ones. I offer individual counselling to explore how fertility difficulties are affecting your relationship, communication, intimacy, and sense of connection. While I do not offer couples counselling, individual therapy can be a powerful way to understand relational dynamics and your role within them.
Anxiety and emotional overwhelm
Anxiety can show up in many ways - racing thoughts, constant worry, physical tension, sleep difficulties, or feeling on edge. In counselling, we gently explore what your anxiety may be trying to protect you from, while developing grounding and self-soothing approaches that feel manageable and supportive.
Repeating patterns
You may notice yourself returning to the same relationship dynamics, emotional responses, or life situations, even when you desperately want things to be different. Counselling helps uncover where these patterns began and how they have helped you survive, so you can begin to choose differently, with greater awareness and self-compassion.
Trauma and past experiences
Trauma doesn’t always come from one clear event. It can also arise from ongoing emotional experiences, relational wounds, or times when your needs were not met. I work gently and at your pace, helping you feel safe in the present while exploring the impact of the past.
Perfectionism and self-pressure
Perfectionism often looks like “doing well” on the outside while feeling exhausted, anxious, or never good enough inside. Counselling can help you understand the origins of these pressures and develop a kinder, more sustainable relationship with yourself.
My Approach to Counselling
I am a humanistic counsellor, which means I place the relationship between us at the heart of the work. I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you are accepted as you are. Alongside talking therapy, I may gently integrate creative approaches, imagery, or reflective exercises if they feel helpful for you, there is no expectation to be “creative” or artistic.
I work collaboratively, respecting your pace, boundaries, and individual experience. Therapy is shaped around you.
Is counselling right for you?
You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting counselling. If you are feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, anxious, or unsure where to turn next, adult counselling can help you begin to understand yourself more deeply and feel less alone.

I offer counselling to adults across the UK, both in-person and online or via the telephone. You can follow along on facebook for support and tips at Creatively Dreaming Therapy, with Helen Taylor. You can also find me on Psychology Today.
